A STRATEGY TO DEVELOP GENERAL EDUCATION IN MALAYSIA AND LESSONS FOR VIETNAM

Summary: 
The article describes three goals in building a strategy to develop general education in Malaysia, including: 1/ Understanding the current situation and challenges of the Malaysian education system, focusing on increasing access to education, raising standards (quality), narrowing learning achievement gaps (equity), enhancing student consensus, and maximizing the efficiency of the system; 2/ Establishing a clear and ambitious vision for each student as well as the whole education system for the next 13 years; 3/ Designing a comprehensive transformation program for the whole system, including essential changes for the Ministry of Education. The article also examines the process of development, structure, contents, solutions, and the roadmap to implement Malaysia’s general education development strategies in the period 2013-2025. Based on that, some lessons and experiences for building Vietnam’s education development strategies 2021-2030 have been drawn.
