The concept of model and modeling was with different interpretation. In general, the concept of model is usually insufficient to explain, even with misconceptions from a certain perspective. Model and modeling can be widely applied in educational research, especially in teaching research, economics of education, education management, comparative education, sociology education and educational psychology. Therefore, we should pay more attention to teach modeling and raise awareness about the model theory in training research competency and postgraduate education. The paper analyzes the nature of model and principles and procedures of modeling in educational research with more specific description.
