DEVELOPING COMPETENCY IN READING AND WRITING FOR STUDENTS AT GENERAL SCHOOLS-GENERAL TASK OF SUBJECTS AND TEACHERS’ TRAINING DIRECTION

Summary: 
Literacy is an essential communicative need. Developing students’ competency in reading and writing at general schools is joint responsibility of subjects and teacher training direction. According to the author, synchronous innovation in many aspects should be carried out, and changing teachers’ awareness and qualification is essential. The problem comes from fostering and training at pedagogical universities. Teacher should be aware of developing students’ competency in reading and writing in secondary schools. The Vietnamese language subject plays primary role, other subjects and educational activities are required to share this task.
