ENHANCING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SELF-LEARNING FOREIGN LANGUAGE FOR VIETNAMESE STUDENTS

Summary: 
Autonomy is a subject of concern, research, application by researchers in different countries. Studies showed the positive effectiveness of enhancing, fostering and developing autonomy in gaining and mastering foreign languages. The article provides some solutions to improve the effectiveness of self-learning foreign language for Vietnamese students in the context of renewing teaching method in order to use foreign languages in work and life. These solutions were: 1/ Raise students’ interest; 2/ Strengthen students’ confidence; 3/Change contents of teaching knowledge; 4/ Practise skills associated with practical tasks; 5/Guide self- study; 6/ Amount of "let it go" of teachers; 7/ Checking and assessment; 8 / Support students’ reading; 9/Develop environment outside classroom; 10/ Develop various and appropriate materials.
