Summary:
Developing curriculum towards competency is a common trend in the world and an approach of the Vietnamese new curriculum. The article mentions concepts and manifestations of general competencies in Vietnamese language curriculum: Self-learning and self-reliance; communication and cooperation; problem solving and creation. At the same time, the author illustrated process, measures and opportunities for developing communication competence in Vietnamese language. Thus, the application of teaching process and assessment of general competency in Vietnamese language has contributed to specify the objective of developing competence in its curriculum and contribute to best implementation of its objectives in teaching Vietnamese language.
