Summary:
The article refers to the orientation to set up and develop curriculum in new Vietnamese language. Accordingly, the author presents some key points in its orientation that includes issues on: subject; objectives; structure and scope of contents; teaching methods; testing and assessment. This orientation was based on many scientific and practical foundations for curriculum development in general and Vietnamese language in particular; combined experience of Vietnam and international lessons-learnt. From this orientation, Board of curriculum development specified into complete curriculum paper. Draft of new Vietnamese language curriculum will be widely consulted by many different national and international stakeholders. Then, it will be revised and regarded by the National Assessment Council. If it is satisfied, the Ministry of Education and Training will approve and issue the official curriculum.
