PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS OF TAIWANESE UPPER SECONDARY TEACHERS AND LESSONS LEARNED FOR VIETNAM

Summary: 
The article summarizes Professional Standards of Taiwanese Upper Secondary Teachers on the basis of collecting and analyzing domestic and international documents. These are professional principles that teachers must adhere to and have many functions such as assessing the fundamental quality of teaching profession, guiding professional development for teachers.The Taiwan's 2007 “National Professional Standards of Secondary Teachers” specified five dimensions of the professional standard with 35 criteria. The latest edition of 2016 on the "Standards Teaching Profession" also outlined 10 standards with 29 criteria. Being considered to be the most complete and most popular, the "Guidelines on Teacher Professional Standards" issued in 2016 emphasized and highlighted core competency indicators of teachers, demonstrating the general requirements for professional development of primary, lower secondary and upper secondary teachers. This is a lesson learned in the development of teacher qualifications for Vietnam in the current period
