THE NATURE OF GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION IN EDUCATION SYSTEM

The purpose of citizenship education is to raise the learner’s awareness, social responsibilities and behaviours, helping them become global citizens who will be able to make their contribution to a global, equal, safe, tolerant and peacefull society. The nature of global citizenship education should be characterized with the followings: Protecting human values; Ensuring human rights, Ensuring the global and local dependence; Maintaining the diversity and identities; Ensuring democracy and dialogues; Developing socio-emotional skills.
