ORIENTATIONS FOR DEVELOPING THE CONTENT OF LOCAL EDUCATION UNDER THE NEW GENERAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM

In the trend of “localizing national curriculum towards its appropriateness to the local situation and condition” in order to maximize the effectiveness of the curriculum as well taking advantage of locally available conditions towards the goal of students’ success in those local schools, the article aims to present an overview of the situation of developing the content of local education in both Vietnam and neighboring countries where this strategy is being strongly implemented. From that point of view, the article provides orientation for the development of local education content under the new general education curriculum. The author also presents some specific examples for selecting the content of local education to suit the local context and school’s implementation conditions
