Summary:
n 2020, due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training requested higher education institutions to partially change to online teaching to minimize the impact of the epidemic but still ensure the teaching progress. Using the method of synthesizing real data, analyzing and comparing practical data from different universities in Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic period, this article describes and analyzes the effects of the pandemic to Vietnamese universities. We consider the impacts on schools, faculty, and students. In particular, the article also evaluates the practical responses of universities to the changes associated with the transition from face-to-face teaching to online teaching in the following aspects: changing the form of teaching, training teachers, ensure the necessary conditions, and testing and evaluatiing. On that basis, we propose measures for universities to adapt to the current “new normal” state.
