Summary: 
The position of information technology in educational sector is increasingly important, especially when digitization in education is becoming more and more urgent as the country faces many challenges from epidemics today. The proficient use of digital devices for both learners and teachers is becoming more imperative than ever to achieve educational goals in the technology age. The article presents an overview of researches on digital competence definitions from conducted international research, explores digital competence frameworks in the world, reviews Vietnam’s new information curriculum, and then proposes a digital competence framework for Vietnamese school students. This can be considered as the first article detailing the digital competence framework for school students in Vietnam with the desire to contribute information to researchers on assessing current school learners’ digital competence.
