It is important for lecturers to understand the nature of approaches to foreign language teaching and learning activities so as to more easily implement learning activities and support learners. This paper presents the concepts and theories of approaches in foreign language teaching activities with the aim to clarify their meaning and importance. In addition, some suggestions for English lecturers and future research on approaches to English teaching are also presented.
