Summary:
Reading comprehension competence is considered as the foundation of literary competencies in general. This issue has been extensively researched, however, there has still been a lack of thoroughness and deepness in those works. Assuring that the resolution of the General Education Curriculum 2018 on developing reading comprehension skills is achieved, we propose a reading comprehension method adopted in a new material. A poem named “A bitter pill” written by Mai Van Phan was selected as a text excluded from the current curriculum for experiment as this literary work satisfies the research requirements, such as being interesting, unique, and full of potential to be explored as well as within students’ capabilities.
