PERCEPTIONS OF EFL STUDENTS ON EFFECTIVE ENGLISH TEACHING AT VINH UNIVERSITY

Summary: 
Effective English teaching is one of the most concerns of ESOL educators and teachers. This study aims to investigate the perceptions of effective English teaching among EFL students at Vinh University. The study involved 190 non-English majored students in the survey and interviews. The findings show that students perceived English learning activities as the most important elements impacting the effectiveness of English teaching. Moreover, teaching contexts and teacher attributes are two more influential elements in students’ assessment of effective teaching. From the findings, many educational implications are put forward in order to improve English teaching situation at universities in Vietnam.
