Summary: 
Compulsory education plays an essential role in human resource development for national economic development. To get a basic education and meet the general requirements, the entire population must be educated. Compulsory education is a process that each citizen is required to go through at their age to get the minimum regulated education as prescribed by the laws and ensured by the State. This article gives the experiences of some countries on compulsory education to draw lessons in applying compulsory education in Vietnam.
