Summary:
Study abroad has been considered as one of important pathways to improve the quality of human resources to meet the country’s development needs. China has taken active, flexible and effective steps to develop a large higher education system with a number of world-class universities and at the same time become one of the second largest economic power in the world. The article reviews the history of China’s study abroad policies to find out the reasons for the country’s current success. Thereby, drawing some key lessons related to study abroad policies for Vietnam in terms of improving the quality of higher education institutions, orienting study abroad activities, managing international student’s information and attracting their contributions to the country’s development.
