STEM EDUCATION IN HIGH SCHOOLS TO DEVELOP COLLABORATIVE PROBLEM-SOLVING COMPETENCES FOR STUDENTS: THEORY AND RECOMMENDATION IN TEACHING

Summary: 
Developing students’ total competences and qualities is one of the most important role in basic and comprehensive innovation of education in Vietnam. Accordingly, we need the comprehensive change in every aspect of education: Designing program, compiling textbooks, teaching and assessing to create a good environment for learners to form and develop their competences and personal qualities. This paper mentioned STEM and the way to develop collaborative problem-solving competence for learners through summarizing and analyzing briefly to understand what exactly STEM is and the relationship among 4 components of “Practical math”, “Simple technology”, “Exciting science” and “Optimal technology”. The paper also proposed a model of educational STEM activities to develop the collaborative problem-solving competencies for students.
