STANDARDS FOR SELECTION OF COUNSELING AND CAREER GUIDANCE TEACHERS IN LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Summary: 
Career guidance education plays an important role in helping students in lower secondary school to adjust their own path suitable with their abilities, strengths and the professional needs of the society. There are many factors affecting the effectiveness of career guidance education, in which the competencies of career guidance teachers are the decisive factor. However, this issue has never been raised and solved in education science. The paper analyzes the concepts, nature and characteristics of the career guidance education, then suggests a competency career guidance framework for teachers. On that basis, the authors set up standards for selecting counseling and career guidance teachers in lower secondary schools in order to improve the effectiveness of career guidance education at schools.
