THE HISTORY CURRICULUM AND SOME TEACHING ORIENTATIONS TO DEVELOP STUDENTS’ HISTORICAL THINKING COMPETENCE

Summary: 
Historical thinking is one of the competencies that are the focus of history education. In Vietnam, the historical thinking competence has been given considerable attention in the 2018 program. However, there are many shortcomings in teaching History subject, especially in attracting students’ interest as well as in helping students to realize the meaning of the subject. Therefore, this article includes a summary of some strategies and approaches to develop students’ historical thinking competence, and to make learning history meaningful for them
