THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION AND HIGHER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT TREND - INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is taking the world by storm of breakthrough platform technologies in 3 main blocks of physical, digital and biological technologies. Industry 4.0 is profoundly affecting aspects of the economy, society, and human lifestyle. The primary task of higher education is to meet the demand for highly qualified human resources training for the labor market with rapid changes due to Industry 4.0. The international research findings have shown some major trends in developing higher education in the industry 4.0 context, that were: 1/ Developing an appropriate university model in new conditions; 2/ Training experts of Industry 4.0 to meet the needs of human resources in this field; 3/ Innovating objectives, contents and training programs; 4/ Renewing teaching methods and 5/ Developing applied research and technology transferring. Understanding the trend of higher education development in the world in the context of Industry 4.0 will help higher education in Vietnam develop within the right direction, meet the needs of human resources, contribute to developing our education, science and technology, socio-economy in the coming period.
