CURRENT STATUS OF STUDENTS’ AUTONOMY IN LEARNING ENGLISH AT VINH UNIVERSITY

Summary: 
The concept of autonomy in learning has attracted much attention from educators all over the world. This study was conducted among first year students at Vinh University through questionnaires and follow-up interviews. The findings show that students’ autonomy in learning English was limited and teachers still played an important role in their learning process. On the basis of the findings, the study suggests some solutions for improving English teaching and learning activities in order to enhance students’ English learning autonomy
