ASSESSING LEARNERS’ DEVELOPMENT: OPPORTUNITIES, CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

Summary: 
Referring to the assessment of learners’ development, the author clearly analyzes: 1 / Viewpoint of assessing learners’ development; 2 / Current status of students’ assessment; 3 / Opportunities, challenges and some solutions to renew assessment of learners’ competency. According to the author, there are always three approaches to learners’ assessment, and they should be applied at the same time: Assessment of learning focuses on identifying curriculum fulfillment, usually carrying out at the end of the education period; Assessment for learning focuses on analyzing and responding to learning, helps students identify their position in the learning process, set up goals and the best way to reach themv; Assessment as learning refers to the process of self-examination, assessment, reflection of learning and responsibility of improving learning
