DESIGNING EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITIES IN TEACHING TO DEVELOP ADAPTIVE COMPETENCIES FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

Summary: 
Adaptive competency is one of the essential competencies that determines an individual’s ability to adapt to the social environment and influences the outcomes of their activities. Adaptive competency enables learners to integrate into the learning environment, build a solid foundation, and develop confidence in both academic settings and daily life. To foster competency development in general, and adaptive competency in particular, experiential learning has become an indispensable component of the educational process in schools. This article employs a document analysis method to clarify the concepts of adaptive competency and experiential activities. Based on scientific foundations, the author describes various manifestations of adaptive competency through experiential activities, including cognitive, behavioral, and socio-emotional aspects of elementary school students. Accordingly, this study discusses the design of experiential activities in elementary education to develop students’ adaptive competency, aligning with the requirements of current educational reforms.
