EXPERIENCE IN TEACHING ELECTIVE SUBJECTS IN THE AUSTRALIAN HIGH SCHOOL AND SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR VIETNAM

One of the important innovation directions of Vietnamese general education is teaching differentiation, especially for high secondary school. This school level is considered the career orientation period, career choice, so this is also the time students can choose their suitable subjects by themselves. This requires changes in the organization of teaching elective subjects at the school. The article analyzes in depth the experience of Australian schools in organizing the teaching of elective subjects to meet the diverse needs of students. One of the successes of Australian schools is to diversify the educational curriculum as well as to develop a list of various elective subjects to help students make suitable choices which fit their career trends.
