GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION IN TEACHING HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY AT PRIMARY LEVEL

Summary: 
The new primary History and Geography curriculum includes basic content strands about geography and history of different regions in Vietnam, neighbouring countries as well as some basic geographic and historical features of other countries all over the world. Besides, the contents of cultural and social, environmental protection, and human values education are also integrated in this curriculum. With these characteristics, the History and Geography subjects at primary level provides opportunities for students to get knowledge on global issues, equipping students to be global citizens. This article points out the chances of integration, and a number of orientations on teaching method, and assessment of global citizenship education in teaching History and Geography at primary schools.
