Summary:
Inclusive education is a progressive global educational trend aimed at ensuring equity and quality in education for all children. In Vietnam, inclusive education has been implemented since 1990. Using a literature review approach, this paper presents the theoretical foundations of inclusive education and examines its practical implementation across two key periods: From 1986 to 2010 and from 2010 to the present. Based on this analysis, the paper identifies major achievements and ongoing challenges in implementing inclusive education in Vietnam since the adoption of the inclusive education model. These findings provide an important basis for developing inclusive education strategies in the next phase, to ensure students with disabilities’ rights to lifelong learning and social inclusion.
