Summary:
The paper analyzes the current status of motivation factors of permanent lecturers at 13 private universities in Hanoi, Vietnam. Through the data collected from 500 questionnaires, the author has compared and assessed the factors affecting teachers’ work motivation such as job characteristics, working environment, and promotion to better clarify the differences of groups of lecturers by age, gender, working experience, and degree. On the basis of that result, the author proposes a number of useful solutions to increase motivation for university teachers at private universities in Hanoi
