MATHEMATICAL COMPETENCE-BASED TEACHING FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS

Summary: 
Described as the basic science, Mathematics is an important tool in education to develop problem solving skills. A vast number of international studies have confirmed that success in learning Math during school years plays an important role to provide students with the skills necessary to further study at higher levels as well as contribute to high quality workforce. Therefore, the issue of effective research and teaching of Math is recently focused in many countries. The findings have also shown that students will be the best at math when they have opportunity to do Math, learn to solve problems, and share their thoughts with others. This article introduces orientations for teaching based on mathematical competence development for secondary students.
