Summary: 
Teaching and learning based on realistic-implementing competence development has been attracting great attention of Vietnam and many other countries in the world. Among the current teaching methodologies today, project-based learning shows many advantages in developing capacity of combining learning theory and practice. This article applies the process of project-based learning in designing the project of “The implementation of mathematics on evaluating the effect of tax on the consumer, producers and the authorities’ policy” in teaching advanced mathematics for economics students, which contributes to developing students’ competence to apply mathematics in reality
