Summary:
Students’ digital literacy is becoming increasingly crucial as technology continues to pervade the daily lives of both children and adults, from social interaction to entertainment, from education to profession. Researchers have paid attention to their proficiency in using digital devices because digital competence is considered one of the core competencies in the digital era. Equipping students with digital competence is essential for them to search materials for their learning and life on technology platforms. The article mentions several definitions of digital competence and an overview of a digital competence framework for students (from preschool to upper secondary school), in which the first three-component competencies of the competency domain "Information and data knowledge" are specifically introduced (from describing content to providing suggestions for teaching and learning activities), and at the same time, draws several lessons for Vietnam. The research results are expected to be a meaningful reference for Vietnamese researchers and educators.
