DEVELOPING NATURAL SCIENCE COGNITIVE FOR STUDENTS THROUGH TEACHING NATURAL SCIENCES IN GRADE 7 (SUBSTANCES AND CHANGES OF SUBSTANCES) USING THE 5E TEACHING MODEL

Summary: 
In the trend of social development, technology is emphasized as an effective support tool in current teaching practices. E-books are mentioned as a technological factor for teachers to utilize and explore during their teaching process. Additionally, techniques or methods used in the classroom and integrating technology and resources to design tasks/learning activities in a logical, scientifically-based sequence following the 5E teaching model will help students quickly reach lesson objectives to develop general and specific competencies, including science cognitive abilities. The article presents some theoretical issues regarding the application of the 5E model in both designing and using e-books and illustrates its application in teaching the content strand “Substances and Changes of Substances” in Natural Sciences in grade 7 through e-book design. This teaching process promotes students’ effective learning, stimulates their interest and motivation, and provides opportunities to experience knowledge and skills through simple actions.
