Summary:
The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented socioeconomic crisis. The rising unemployment rate and the costs related to disease prevention and control are currently creating a heavy financial burden for the disadvantaged groups in society, which includes students. This study is the result of a survey of 120 second and third year university students in Hanoi about the impact of the epidemic on students’ financial situation. The research results show that most students are negatively affected by the epidemic. Revenues dropped sharply while costs for the learning process tended to increase. Therefore, the universities and the government need to develop policies to support students to overcome difficulties and continue studying in higher education in the new context
