SOCIO-EMOTIONAL COMPETENCE OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS MAJORING IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Summary: 
Social-emotional competence is affirmed as a crucial factor in developing humans in general and teachers, learners in particular in the educational process. In the training process, students majoring in early childhood education need to be equipped with social-emotional competence to set up positive relationships, support and promote children’s development, and develop successful classrooms, improving the quality of education. Based on published scientific literature, the study determines the concept of social-emotional competence of university students majoring in early childhood education. At the same time, based on theoretical models of socialemotional competence, the study proposes the structure of social-emotional competencies of university students in early childhood education as well as describes the manifestation of its component competencies. The study results serve as a basis for research evaluating the social-emotional competence of students majoring in early childhood education. Then, measures to improve the quality of university education and training are proposed.
