Summary:
Obstacles to conducting scientific research in a vocational education field of health professions can inhibit the research activity deployment to achieve knowledge for training health personnel and providing health care services based on scientific evidence. This article focuses on determining the barriers to scientific research implementation among vocational educators in health professions and proposing solutions. Data was collected through a questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale with six barrier dimensions and 51 questions, including individual barriers, professional barriers, facility barriers, financial barriers, scientific barriers, and managerial-organizational barriers. Results show their impact from medium to the high level, in which the facility barrier influences the highest and scientific barrier influences the lowest, reflecting the difficulties caused by the facilities and limits of knowledge, experience, and research skills that have hindered the vocational educators of health professions participating in scientific research. These findings suggest prioritizing facility investment and budget support for research activities as well as enhancing research competence for vocational educators.
