A SURVEY RESEARCH ON KANJI LEARNING STRATEGIES BY INTERVIEWING JAPANESE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL STUDENTS

Summary: 
One of the hardest parts of learning Japanese as a foreign language is learning Kanji. Unless Kanji is easy and interesting to learners, they will not acquire this language easily. In order to remember the way to write, read and the meaning of Kanji vocabulary, multiple strategies should be used. The authors conducted direct interviews with Japanese intermediate level students who have good ability in using the strategies when they study Kanji. The students who are interested in Kanji language will pay more attention to learning SinoVietnamese sounds, learning the radicals, using stories to memorize Kanji, and taking notice of similar Kanji words. In addition, one of the strategies that is often employed is "writing over and over again"
