Summary: 
Digital transformation is a new concept appearing in the explosive development of the Internet and digital technology, which describes the application of digital technology in all aspects of an organization, a community, and an enterprise system. In the trend of digital transformation, the ideas of smart education, smart university, smart classroom, smart learning environment have attracted great attention from educators as well as universities in the world in order to develop a modern model of higher education in the new era. The article introduces a set of tools to assess the level of development of a higher education institution toward the smart university model, and demonstrates this development based on the results of the digital transformation in management and training process at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
