Summary:
Vietnam is in the period of education reform. The promulgation of the 2018 General Education curriculum has changed the educational goal to developing learners’ competence. Therefore, teachers must change to meet the program objectives. This study is the result of a survey on the current situation of 458 junior high school teachers who are teaching according to the 2018 General Education curriculum. The author provides an examination of four factors on occupational pressures, including 1) pressures related to personal factors; 2) pressures related to students; 3) pressure related to work; and 4) pressure related to other factors. The results show that on the whole teachers’ pressures are not too high, but on the small items, teachers are under a lot of pressure from “Teaching methods to meet the program objectives”, “Requirements for professional development according to professional standards”, “Students do not achieve the desired results”, and “Pressure from the program’s innovation requirements”, etc. Based on such results, needs to adjust to reduce the pressure and increase motivation for teachers.
