INSTRUCTION FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO ORGANIZE INFORMATION IN EXPOSITORY TEXT

Summary: 
The article analyzes several suggested bases for how to guide high school students to organize information in writing expository texts. That is the concept of expository text in Literature in Vietnam General Education Curriculum, the types of structure of the expository text, and the relationship among objects, information, and the type of structure in a text. On such bases, the article presents several ways that teachers can guide students to organize information in an expository text to ensure an appropriate structure. Each method is described in terms of purpose, implementation, and necessary notes when applying. Instructing students specifically to organize information in the expository text is a practical activity for teachers in forming and developing students’ competence to write expository texts. The proposed methods can contribute to the orientation and suggestions for teachers in designing teaching activities to write expository texts.
