ACTUAL SITUATION OF ASSESSMENT OF SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN HANOI CITY ACCORDING TO COMPETENCY-BASED APPROACH

Summary: 

Assessing teachers, especially secondary school teachers, is crucial for improving their quality in the competency-based approach. In 2018, SEAMEO developed a Competency Framework for teachers, which includes four essential competencies comprising 12 general competencies, 31 supplemental competencies, and 136 successful descriptors. However, in Vietnam, specific guidelines for this competency framework for teachers at each level are still being developed. In this article, we present some findings on the current status of competency-based assessment activities for secondary school teachers in Hanoi city, focusing on six areas: awareness about the significance of teacher assessment purposes, the content of the assessment, the use of assessment forms, assessment methods, implementation of the assessment process, and the participation of the workforce in the assessment. The research results will help develop training solutions for teachers with limited capacity and improve the quality of teaching and education in schools.
