FORMATION OF COMPETENCE IN PRESCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN

Summary: 
Competency is a set of internal attributes that individuals apply to engage in activities and effectively solve specific problems in life. Competencies are not innate and differ among individuals. Forming competence is a process, influenced by external factors (school, family, society) and by the subject's own internal efforts. Competence is composed of various components; therefore, its development must begin with the most fundamental knowledge and behaviors. The acknowledgment and confidence of adults in the formation and growth of competencies starting from early childhood, along with the identification of which competencies need to be nurtured, are of great significance. This perspective allows the educational process to increasingly focus on learners, creating opportunities for their development and revealing the learner's competencies.
