Summary:
Integrating the history of Mathematics into Mathematics teaching is considered a natural approach that not only supports students in acquiring mathematical knowledge but also deepens their understanding of the subject’s content and nature. This study proposes an AI-assisted instructional model, in which artificial intelligence is utilized as a tool to support the design of lessons that integrate historical elements with mathematical content, thereby enhancing self-directed learning among lower secondary students in Vietnam. The research methods include theoretical analysis, a practical survey involving 49 Mathematics teachers, and expert consultation. The collected data were analyzed to construct the model, which was subsequently refined based on feedback from Mathematics education specialists. The application of the model is demonstrated through the design of instructional activities for teaching Thales theorem in Grade 8. Findings indicate that the proposed integrative model establishes a meaningful connection between historical values and modern technological environments. It not only enhances the effectiveness of Mathematics instruction and fosters students’ mathematical competencies but also contributes to heritage education by preserving and promoting the cultural values of humanity.
