ACCREDITATION OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ACCORDING TO FIBAA STANDARDS: PRACTICES IN VIETNAM

This paper examines the implementation of program quality accreditation based on the standards of the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), within the broader context of Vietnam’s higher education amid increasing international integration. The study aims to elucidate the theoretical underpinnings, current practices, and key challenges in applying FIBAA standards at Vietnamese higher education institutions, and to propose strategies for more effective implementation. A qualitative methodology was adopted, combining document analysis with case studies at leading universities, including the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Ton Duc Thang University, the National Economics University, and VinUni. The findings highlight that FIBAA accreditation yields substantial benefits, such as enhancing academic reputation, aligning curricula with international standards, and fostering global collaboration. Nonetheless, several obstacles persist, including high costs, limited English proficiency, inadequate human resources, and the absence of supportive policy frameworks. The study offers both theoretical and practical implications for educational administrators, university leaders, and policymakers in Vietnam, thereby supporting efforts to broaden the adoption of international accreditation and advance the quality of higher education in a globally aligned and sustainable manner.
