Summary:
Autism Spectrum Disorder, which is a kind of neuro developmental disorder, is often accompanied by developmental, psychiatric, neurological, or other medical diagnoses. Recent studies also found that the autism spectrum disorder group had a higher incidence of comorbidities than those without autism spectrum disorder. The comorbid behavioral and emotional issues that overlap with the core symptoms of autism make it more difficult for children to improve their functional activities for daily life. This article aims to review the researches on the behavioral and emotional issues of children with autism spectrum disorders. The common behavioral problems include hyperactivity, aggression and conduct disorder. Meanwhile, the common emotional problems include depression, separation anxiety, and specific or social phobia.
