Summary:
Multicultural education serves as both a perspective and a humanistic approach, as well as an educational principle aimed at providing equitable educational opportunities for all children, regardless of their cultural background, social class, race, religion, language, gender, personal culture, or diverse origins. This article reviews studies on multicultural education in early childhood education from 2018 to 2024, focusing on six key issues: the concept of multiculturalism and multicultural education in early childhood education; the necessity of multicultural education; the measurement scale for multicultural education; barriers and strategies for implementing multicultural education in early childhood education. In addressing the challenges of implementing multicultural education, the studies consistently emphasize the need to integrate multicultural aspects into the components of the Early Childhood Education Curriculum. More importantly, they highlight the integration of this issue into the overall pedagogical approach of teachers when implementing the curriculum, embedding multicultural values into children's daily lives, and strengthening the cooperation between kindergartens and families to effectively implement a multicultural early childhood education program. The findings provide a foundation for identifying solutions in the training and professional development of early childhood educators and in developing educational programs that promote multicultural education for children.
