THE IMPACT OF LEARNER AND ALUMNI FEEDBACK QUALITY ON OUTCOME-BASED CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT IN HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION

Summary: 
In the context of health professions education, the shift toward Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) has increased recognition of learner and alums feedback as an important source of information for curriculum improvement. However, the influence of such feedback on specific components of curriculum development remains insufficiently understood, particularly when feedback is not examined from an information quality perspective. This study aims to examine the impact of learner and alumni feedback quality on outcome-based curriculum development in health professions education in Vietnam. An explanatory mixed-methods design was employed, combining a survey of 464 faculty members across health professions education institutions with in depth interviews to support the interpretation of quantitative findings. Quantitative data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling, in which feedback quality was conceptualized as a multidimensional construct grounded in Information Quality Theory. The results indicate that feedback quality has positive and statistically significant effects on all major components of outcome-based curricula. Moreover, learner feedback shows stronger associations with teaching methods and assessment practices, whereas alumni feedback is more closely related to learning outcomes and curriculum structure.
