THE CURRENT STATUS OF MORAL EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS IN NON PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN HO CHI MINH CITY UNDER THE 2018 GENERAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM

This study aims to clarify the current status of moral education in non-public primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City under the 2018 General Education Curriculum. The study focuses on analyzing the components of objectives, content, methods, organizational forms, and educational forces, as well as the assessment and evaluation of moral education outcomes. A mixed methods approach was used, combining questionnaire surveys with in-depth interviews. The sample consisted of 200 administrators and teachers from 15 primary schools, and the collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings indicate that although moral education has been implemented, its effectiveness remains limited. The implementation process lacks coherence and consistency across educational components, and the transformation of students’ moral awareness into sustainable moral behavior has not yet been effectively achieved. Based on these findings, the study proposes several recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of moral education in non-public primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City, taking into account their specific characteristics within the current educational context.
