Summary: 
Starting school is an important milestone in a child’s life. The success of the transition from kindergarten to primary school depends on many factors, of which the family plays a particularly important role in supporting children’s social, emotional and psychological skills, learning motivation, and early learning skills before the child enters first grade. The article clarifies key concepts, the requirements of first grade readiness for 5-year-olds, family roles, activities and strategies that families participate in preparing their children for first grade, making the parents, schools, teachers and administrators at kindergarten and primary schools more aware of their roles in preparing children for first grade.
