Summary:
This article aims to clarify the current state of professional ethics education for ship navigation students at colleges in the context of increasing demands for professional competence and international maritime ethical standards. The study addresses a research gap, as previous studies have mainly focused on teacher education and service-related fields. In contrast, the maritime field has not been sufficiently examined from a competency-based perspective in the development of professional ethics. The study uses document analysis and synthesis, questionnaire-based surveys, interviews, observations, and data processing with SPSS 20.0. The results show that professional ethics education is implemented at a fairly high level across objectives, content, methods, organizational forms, and educational outcomes. The prominent values include responsibility, discipline, and professional commitment. However, the ability to apply ethical standards is still limited in practical situations, such as decision-making under pressure, multicultural communication, and environmental responsibility. The study identifies key issues, including a gap between knowledge and ethical behavior, limited practical experience, and the lack of close collaboration between educational institutions and enterprises, thereby providing a basis for proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of professional ethics education in the context of international integration.
