Summary:
This paper examines the suitability of the flipped classroom model for teaching political theory courses in Vietnam’s current higher education context. Based on a review of literature, the paper analyzes both domestic and international studies on the flipped classroom model, political theory education, the direction of higher education reform, and the characteristics of the current generation of students. It provides a theoretical foundation for applying this model. The research results highlight three key aspects: First, the flipped classroom model aligns with the requirements of pedagogical reform and digital transformation in higher education by emphasizing students’ active role. Second, the model allows for restructuring learning activities into a pre class, in-class, and post-class cycle, enabling students to acquire foundational knowledge during the preparation phase and to develop critical thinking, application skills, and problem-solving abilities during in-class discussions and real-world case handling. Third, the flipped classroom model addresses the learning characteristics of Vietnamese students, particularly Generation Z, who are familiar with digital environments and have a high demand for dialogue and experiential learning. This paper not only offers meaningful suggestions for modernizing the teaching methods of political theory courses but also opens up directions for empirical research on the implementation of the flipped classroom model in teaching practice, particularly in the context of digital transformation and the learning needs of Generation Z.
