CURRENT STATUS OF COMPETENCY-BASED TEACHING IN HISTORY AT PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS IN DISTRICT 1, HO CHI MINH CITY

General education has been shifting from content-based education to competency-based education. Therefore, competency-based teaching is a core activity in the process of learner training to meet the objectives of the general education program. The article examines the current status of competency-based teaching in History at public high schools in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, including the necessity, objectives, contents of competency-based teaching activities in History teaching; the methods and forms of History teaching; and testing and assessing thehistory subject based on competency approach from the survey results of 1,317 administrators, teachers, and students. Through the analysis of the current situation, the Independent Sample T-test was used to test the difference in opinions between the two groups of respondents, including group 1 (administrators and teachers) and group 2 (students). The results show that five items have a statistically significant difference between the two groups.
